ExpendWise — Terms of Service

Effective date: 2026-05-24 Version: 1.0 Hosted at: https://expendwise.pro/terms

Closed beta notice. These terms apply to invited TestFlight users (≤50 users in the European Union) during the closed beta. They will be updated before general availability.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or signing in, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and the Privacy Policy at https://expendwise.pro/privacy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. The service

ExpendWise is a mobile application that helps you manage personal finances by extracting transaction data from receipts, statements, and other financial documents you choose to share.

During closed beta the service is provided as-is, may change without notice, and may be paused or withdrawn. The beta is free of charge.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old and a resident of the European Union to use the service during the closed beta. By using the service you confirm both.

4. Your account

5. What you can and cannot do

You may use ExpendWise to manage your own personal finances.

You may not:

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate an account that violates these rules, with prior notice where reasonably possible.

6. Your content

You retain all rights to the documents and data you upload ("Your Content"). By uploading, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display Your Content solely to operate the service for you. We never sell Your Content, never use it to train AI models, and never share it for advertising.

7. Accuracy and reliance

ExpendWise uses AI to extract structured data from documents. Extraction can miss fields, misclassify transactions, or produce incorrect values. You are responsible for verifying the data before relying on it — including for tax filing, expense reporting, or any official purpose.

The extracted data is intended as a personal-finance aid, not as an authoritative accounting record. We make no representation that the service is fit for accounting, tax, or legal-compliance use cases.

8. Service availability

We aim to keep the service available but make no specific uptime guarantee during the beta. Maintenance windows, infrastructure issues, or upstream provider outages (Supabase, Anthropic, Apple, Expo) may make the service temporarily unavailable.

9. Third parties

The service depends on the sub-processors listed in our Privacy Policy (Supabase, Anthropic, Expo, Apple). Their respective terms also apply when your use of ExpendWise involves them — most notably Apple's TestFlight terms when you install the beta build.

10. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will ExpendWise be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or business opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of the service.

Our total aggregate liability for direct damages is capped at €50 — reflecting that the beta is provided free of charge.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by EU law, including liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

12. Termination

You may delete your account at any time by emailing privacy@expendwise.pro (see Privacy Policy § 9). Account deletion completes within 30 days.

We may terminate or suspend your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we end the closed beta. Where possible we will give you notice and a chance to export your data first.

13. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be announced in-app at next sign-in. Continued use after the effective date of an update means you accept the updated Terms. If you don't accept, delete your account.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved before the competent courts of Lisbon, Portugal.

If you are a consumer resident in another EU Member State, mandatory consumer-protection provisions of your home jurisdiction still apply.

You may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

These Terms are provided as a plain-language summary for the closed beta. They are not legal advice.
